California Restaurant Chains are Moving into the Valley

Last year, California residents moved into Arizona in record numbers. Likewise, 2020 saw numerous Golden State businesses and corporations migrating into the Grand Canyon State. Recently, it appears that some beloved California eateries have decided to expand their operations into metro Phoenix. Here is more on some of the California restaurant chains moving into the Valley.

Lure Fish House

After two years of planning and development, southern California’s Lure Fish House has at last opened its first location in the State of Arizona. Lure’s new location is in the popular Shops at Gainey Village in Scottsdale. The Scottsdale restaurant is the fifth for the California family-owned chain.

Lure Fish House features fresh, sustainable seafood from trusted sources. According to a recent article about the opening, the restaurant’s “goal is to provide their guests with a fun and exciting seafood experience full of healthy, environmentally sound, and delicious options.” Darren Pitts, Executive Vice President at Velocity Retail Group, commented that “Lure is an exceptional concept that will be warmly welcomed into the Phoenix Metro area as the seafood category is somewhat underserved here in the desert. Pitts, who is part of a group representing Lure during its market launch, stated that “We are looking for additional locations in several trade areas throughout the Valley.”

The new 6,336 square foot restaurant is located at 8877 N. Scottsdale Road, at the main entrance to the shopping center with direct exposure to Scottsdale Road.

California Fish Grill

Another favorite California seafood restaurant has also entered the metro market. California Fish Grill (CFG) opened its first location in the Grand Canyon State in Mesa, Arizona. The casual seafood restaurant serves affordable, high-quality, sustainably sourced seafood. The kitchen has an open design where customers are welcome to enjoy the experience of vegetables and herbs being prepared and fish being hand-battered and cooked on CFG’s signature flame grill. The CFG location is at 1855 S. Stapley Drive, #101, Mesa, AZ  85204

California Fish Grill is headquartered in Irvine, California, and, in addition to its Mesa location, the company operates 36 restaurants in California and one in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dave Cheatham, President of Velocity Retail Group, commented that “California Fish Grill is an exceptional concept and restaurant operator that is in a category currently underserved in the state.” He also stated that “We are excited to bring this distinctive brand to the Valley and have several more locations in the works.”
